Internal physiological states shape every aspect of behavior, yet how the brain senses and regulates these states remains one of fundamental questions in neuroscience.
The Lee Lab investigates the neural circuit and molecular mechanisms by which internal physiological states are represented in the brain and transformed into adaptive behavior. Using sleep homeostasis as a model system, we combine systems neuroscience, genetics, electrophysiology, and behavior to uncover fundamental principles of brain function.
